Promoting

We’re promoting hundreds of opportunities to volunteer with local charities and non-profit organisations on our dedicated digital platforms and through events, social media and more – and thereby:

  • Helping individuals who want to volunteer to easily find roles that fit their lifestyle and interests
  • Helping charities, community groups, and businesses recruit the volunteers who are vital for their work in the community

Partnering

We’re partnering to showcase the benefits of volunteering and celebrate the contribution and achievements of Hertfordshire’s volunteers.

Developing

We’re developing accessible pathways into volunteering for all.

Identifying

We’re identifying new volunteering opportunities, as well as initiatives and support so that everyone involved in volunteering has a great experience in our county.

Making

Volunteering

Easier

Partners have organised events to find out how Hertfordshire might develop better efficiencies in volunteering through volunteer passports, such as a very informative joint event in September 2024 where we heard from Gethyn Williams, who works on passporting schemes across the country, and our colleagues in Norfolk, who run their own scheme. Hertfordshire volunteer managers discussed the challenges and the possibilities a passport scheme could bring.

Going forward, we’re excited to be engaging in the Volunteering for Health initiative which will improve the infrastructure for health volunteering.

Showcasing Vital Roles in our Community

We’ve worked together to highlight some key volunteering roles, including driving for a community transport scheme, befriending, being a trustee, mentoring and volunteering in retail initiatives which help bring in vital funds for local charities.

Through radio shows, videos and social media we’ve jointly shone a spotlight on the work of the organisations, how volunteers are involved and the huge impact they have. We’ve signposted to a variety of fantastic ways to get involved.
