Our social supermarket is here to support Hertfordshire residents who are affected by the rising cost of living by offering a wide range of food and essential goods at a more affordable cost. Â
Our goal is to empower individuals and families by providing them with the resources they need to maintain their independence; while ensuring they feel valued, respected, and supported in a welcoming environment.
Shopping at our social supermarket can help lower your grocery bills, giving you more flexibility to manage other essential expenses.
Membership
To be able to benefit from our social supermarket there is a £40 annual membership fee and there is a charge of £5 per visit. For this £5 you will be able to complete an essential shop for about three days for a family of three. Some general rules may apply on meat and dairy products.Â
You can visit as many of our locations as you want during the week, however, you can only have one membership per household for a family of four.
If your household consists of more than four members and you can evidence this, you may be eligible for an additional membership.Â
Eligibility
Those from low-income households and/or in receipt of benefits are typically eligible for membership. This will be assessed on application, but we will always endeavour to be as inclusive as possible. Â
You can self-refer to become a member if you are in need of support and meet the eligibility requirements. Referrals are also welcome through any statutory, voluntary and community organisations.Â
