Research Engagement Network
Making Research Accessible for Everyone

Connecting Communities with Health & Social Care Research in Hertfordshire & West Essex
The Research Engagement Network (REN) is a partnership designed to increase participation in research, making it more inclusive, accessible, and relevant to local communities.
Funded by the NHS and supported by voluntary sector organisations, REN helps bridge the gap between researchers and the public, ensuring research reflects real-world experiences and needs.
How Does It Work?
We support both local people and researchers by:
- Raising awareness of health and social care research opportunities.
- Providing community spaces for engagement events.
- Training and supporting volunteers as Community Research Champions to connect researchers with the public.
- Helping to remove barriers to participation, such as language, accessibility, and trust.
- Ensuring diverse voices are heard in shaping research.
