Community Help Herts Funding Fair
Community Help Hertfordshire, in partnership with Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership, held the Hertfordshire Funding Fair on the 10th September 2024, at the University of Hertfordshire.
This event brought together community groups, charities, voluntary organisations, sports clubs, faith groups, and social enterprises across Hertfordshire.
Attendees at the fair had the opportunity to:
- Talk directly to funders and browse the information stands
- Take part in workshops delivered by experts and learn about the latest funding and development opportunities
- Discuss wider issues around sustainability
- Network with other voluntary sector colleagues to share news, views, and ideas

Presenter Biographies
Richard Morris
Richard Morris an experienced business leader, author and digital/community-orientated entrepreneur. He’s enjoyed being a pioneer in both Silicon Valley and the UK, building the internet infrastructure and services we use as utilities today. He continues his management consulting work but wanting to focus more on social impact, he co-founded and leads TheGivingMachine, a charity that provides new and easy ways to help causes, supporters and businesses make a difference together.
Helen Snowden
Helen Snowden is the Funding Officer for Hertfordshire for the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund. Prior to taking up this role she worked as a fundraiser and fundraising manager for over 10 years and has experience of all aspects of fundraising including community, corporate, individual giving and events. Her main focus, however has always been trust and grant funding and she has successfully applied to large funding organisations including The Lloyds Foundation, Children in Need, Garfield Weston and numerous small and local funders
Richard Sutcliffe
Richard Sutcliffe is the Director of Funding 4 Sport. With over 25 years’ experience across the sporting, play, physical activity and leisure sectors he brings a significant breadth of knowledge and experience within the areas of sports funding, sports development, and sports business.Â
Richard began his career within facility management before leaving to become a senior manager within Activity Sheffield, Sheffield City Council in 2004, leading the city’s collaborative strategic approach to the area of sport, play and physical activity. Part of this role Richard project managed strategic city work that included writing and delivering large strategic bids for the service and the city.Â
In 2008 Richard set up Funding 4 Sport providing a whole range of services, and in 2014 Funding 4 Sport joined forces with the Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership to increase external funding for Hertfordshire based organisations involved in sport and physical activity – and some £5.0m in small and medium-sized grants has been secured since that time.
Alice Browne
Alice Browne is the Grants and Communities Officer for Groundwork East supporting groups to apply to the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme. With a background in supporting community groups and charities with volunteering, and fundraising, Alice is concerned about the climate and nature emergency she delivers Carbon Literacy courses for groups across Hertfordshire and is an activist for the environment.Â
